ODs making a difference in Peru
Friday, 10 May 2024
We have received reports from the British Consul in Iquitos, Peru, that several ODs have been helping support communities in the Amazon.  In projects coordinated by Joseph Plumb MBE and charity Peru Mission, ODs have become involved in providing and staffing medical facilities in and around Saint Martin de Porres.

Most recently, Millie O'Dair (M, 2008-15) has been undertaking volunteer work as a Doctor, providing ICU, Tropical and Infectious Diseases and Maternity care.  Millie became involved after two other ODs, Joe Hogan (P, 2012-19) and Rob Milbanke (P, 2010-18) had spent some time with the charity last summer, helping to maintain the Parish Clinic in Saint Martin de Porres.

Mr Plumb commented, "Many thanks to Durham School for forming young people with a desire to serve humanity and give of their time and talents to use their professional abilities to bring comfort and relief from suffering to people in need on the other side of this shared planet for which we have a common duty to care."
